Trusted Employee Accused of ₹1 Crore Gold and Cash Heist in Ajmer

Ajmer police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing approximately 750 grams of gold and ₹15 lakh in cash from a jeweler's shop in the Naya Bazaar area, falling under the Kotwali police station limits. The accused, identified as Dilip Chaurasia, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, was a long-time employee at the very shop he is now suspected of robbing.

Initial investigations suggest that Chaurasia, who had worked at the jewelry store for nearly 18 years, committed the theft driven by a gambling addiction. The total value of the stolen gold and cash is estimated to be around ₹1 crore, a significant blow to the merchant.

The incident came to light after the shop owner filed a report with the police. Acting swiftly on the complaint, authorities launched an investigation, which led them to Chaurasia. His long tenure at the shop makes the alleged betrayal particularly shocking to the local business community.

Police have taken Chaurasia into custody and are currently interrogating him. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen gold and cash, with officers planning to seek remand to facilitate the recovery process and gather more details about the crime.
