Nasirabad Police Crack Ancient Treasure Theft Case, Seven Arrested with ₹1.25 Crore Haul

According to Sadar Police Station Officer Radheshyam Chaudhary, police received information that gold, silver, copper, other valuable metals, and old conch shells were found during digging in a Bithoor field two months prior. It was alleged that the excavators took these items and later sold a portion of them.

Intensive Investigation Leads to Arrests

Acting on this crucial tip, a special team was swiftly formed under the guidance of Inspector General Dr. Ravi, Superintendent of Police Harshvardhan Agrawala, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meel, and Circle Officer Laxmanram. The police team, along with the Nasirabad Tehsil's revenue department, inspected the site. Clear marks of JCB excavation were found, prompting the police to intensify their investigation using technical analysis, intelligence networks, and informants.

The rigorous investigation led to the arrest of seven individuals: Firoz Khan and Qadar Mehrat from Bithoor, and Shankar Singh, Harlal Rawat, Jaisingh, Mahavir Singh, and Narayan Singh Rawat from Dholadanta-Bubania. Police recovered the gold and silver items, copper materials, and ancient conch shells based on the accused's confessions and from their possession. The cash obtained from selling some of the stolen treasure was also seized.

Recovered Items Valued at ₹1.25 Crore

Among the recovered gold are various small and large plates, lumps, and pieces of jewelry. Additionally, 310 grams of silver foil, about 2.5 kilograms of copper rods and wires, and two ancient conch shells were found. The police also managed to recover the ₹17,44,500 that the accused received after selling some of the stolen artifacts.

Overcoming Challenges in a Two-Month-Old Case

Police Officer Radheshyam highlighted the challenges faced by the team. The incident was two months old, and the site was located in remote fields with no CCTV coverage. Furthermore, crops had been sown in the field after the incident, making it difficult to gather direct evidence. Despite these hurdles, the police team activated their intelligence network, technical investigation, and informant system to gather information on suspects, ultimately cracking the case and making these arrests.

Sadar police confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact nature and origin of the recovered ancient artifacts and treasure. All seven accused are currently in police remand for further interrogation.
